Lady Red Devils Softball drops one to Silver Creek

Jeffersonville had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-10 to make it four. They came up short against the Silver Creek Dragons, falling 16-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Devils of the 11-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024. Jeffersonville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenzie Myers, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. As for Silver Creek, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-5. Considering they have won nine matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new. On Silver Creek's side, they got a great performance from Lily Philpott as she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Whitlock, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Riley Whiteman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season. Looking ahead, Jeffersonville will face off against Bedford North Lawrence at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Stars have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
